Despite the short season, both boys and girls soccer had a terrific set of games and practices this year. The girls started their season with a 1-1 tie against Cardinal Mooney, and improved to secure many important wins, strongly finishing off their season with a 4-1 win against Crestwood and a 7-0 win against Canton Central Catholic. They also had to face a transition after the first game as Mrs. Mary Randazzo stepped up as their new head coach. As Zia Zelman ’23 reflects, “With this season I cannot be more proud about how we worked together as a team. Although we did not win every single game, everyone was so supportive of each other on and off the field. I can’t wait for next season!” The boys had a tremendous season as well. Kicking off the season with a 6-1 win against St. Thomas Aquinas High, they ended the season with 6 wins, 2 loses and a tie out of the 9 games they played. As Dan Hoffman ’22 describes, “Even with this school year being as weird as it’s been, it was awesome to see the soccer team pull through and finish the season strong. It was also incredible to see the growth throughout the team especially with only a few players and injuries on the rise, the effort given by other players to cover positions was unreal, and the results produced will be unforgettable.” WRA can not wait for the next soccer season, as it will surely be another year full of fun and promise!
