The cross country teams had their first (and last) meet this past month. The girls team won their meet 18 – 43 against Laurel. Our talented runners who placed as varsity are Elba Heddesheimer (1st), Paige Bodnar (2nd), Ellie McGregor (3rd), Nora Namiotka (5th), Tanvi Shah (7th), Amanda Han (8th) and Esme Cummins (9th).
When asked about this meet Coach Warner said, “I was really pleased with how we competed. Laurel had already raced twice this season, and I had no idea how we’d respond to the challenge. I knew we had trained hard and had done everything possible to set ourselves up for success, but we had to show-up ready to race. Until you have that first competition under your belt, it’s impossible to know for sure what kind of team you have. But our girls ran hard and smart, and that was about as perfect a one-meet season as we could have had.”
Unfortunately, the boys cross country team, coached by Mr. Baldridge, lost their meet 31-24 against Kiski. Our skilled runners who placed as varsity are Jack Colafela (1st), David King (5th), AJ Spano (7th), David Gentile (8th), Carter Fleming (10th), Sam Bick (12th) and Charlie Cummins (13th).
What an exciting one-meet season!
